Ego is defined as an individual sense of self-importance. When an individual refuses to accept or engage in new ways for self-improvement. They are of the belief that they are operating on a level of perfection.

We all have egos and it shows up through our actions and how we interact with others. The common argument is that persons that portray oversized egos are considered as overly confident. I beg to differ; there is vast difference between Confidence vs Ego.

  • A confident person seeks to owns things that brings them joy
  • Oversized ego individuals own things to create an image or status
  • Confident person is humble and greatful
  • Oversize ego individuals are insecure and entitled
  • Confident person knows their value
  • Oversized ego individuals are unable to separate their feelings and opinions
  • Confident person does not allow their opinions and feelings to define them
  • Oversized ego individuals believe they are experts on every subject

  • hard to keep friends
  • redirecting attention to themselves
  • overly sensitive to failure
  • insecure

  • always defensive

We also must address that there are healthy and unhealthy ways one’s ego can surface;

Healthy

In conclusion we all have egos, the challenge is whether it is big or small, healthy or unhealthy. The good thing is that we can unlearn certain behaviors and implement new mindset in order to control our egos. The science states that ego acts as a bridge between unconsciousness and consciousness, it craves safety and predictability. Egos magnifies our best and worst qualities.
