Saint Lucia is a small island (238 square miles) in the Caribbean Sea. It is part of the Lesser Antilles located north of St Vincent and south of Martinique. Estimated population of 183,627. English is the main language however most natives communicate in creole (broken French). Main currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar.
St. Lucia is also my home sweet home and my top 10 things to do when visiting St. Lucia:
- Visit the drive through volcano and take a dip in the Sulphur Springs – Soufriere.
- Try our local beer called ‘Piton’.
- Visit our local market in the town of Castries – local fruits and provisions as well as hand made craft.
- Try our main dish ‘Green fig and salt fish’.
- Visit our landmark and climb the fort ‘Pigeon Point’.
- Visit our local beaches.
- Get married at any of our remote hotels, gardens or beach locations.
- Visit during the month of May to enjoy our Jazz Festivals or July for our Carnival extravaganza.
- Visit our local Catholic Church in town of Castries.
- Visit our local communities Gros Islet, Anse ladies Raye or Dennery for fish fry (grilled seasoned fresh fish and seafood).
Proud daughter of the soil would like you to know Fair Helen recently celebrated 41 years of independence last February 22, 2020. The Queen of England held our hands to built a foundation and we did just that. Great job Lucia keep pushing for 41 more years!
Hopefully I see you soon in my piece of paradise. Do not take my word for gold come experience yourself….you will thank me later.
