My father and I are not as close as a daughter and dad should be. Due to his absence very early on in my life the relationship is a bit estranged. He extended an invitation to come visit him in my adult years and I excitedly accepted.

My visit to Charlotte, North Carolina was viewed as an adventure like all my previous travel escapades. However there was much less planning and preparation involved. I had a place to stay and I was certain my meals would be covered. No research was done on that city, it was a complete discover when you get there kind of vibe.

My experience from arrival was amazing! The feel of that city is new money, the people are warm and friendly. The night life is moderate; there are several options of vibrant bars, night clubs and restaurants to appease the masses. I was particularly impressed by the hospitality of strangers and new friends. While in Charlotte you are sure to be invited to church or dinner.

My pops was happy to see me and it was likewise for me, we spent quality time together and had several limited discussions. I met most of his colleagues who had mountains of information about me and spoke to me like we were aquainted for years. I was introduced to his lifestyle and how well he adapted in the city he now called home for several years now.

So as a great sport I am here to share some “must see spots” in Charlotte. The first three (3) listed are black owned I urge you to stop by and support if and when your travels lead you to that location. Here goes:

  • Tropical Goodies Restaurant
  • Ms. Elsae’s Bed and Breakfast
  • BW Sweets Bakery
  • Mint Museum
  • Funny/Comedy Bus
  • Doc Porter’s Distillery
  • BB&T Ballpark
  • NASCAR Hall of Fame

Overall my first trip to Charlotte was such a success, I started making these trips a holiday/family annual celebratory event. I made life long friends and explored the area to it’s entirety. Charlotte is a beautiful, vibrant city that I can recommend for the travelers that enjoy entertainment over adventure. My fellow readers thank you again for your support and I hope you continue to share feedback. Peace & Blessings
