Take a moment and think back to a time when you were working hard to accomplish specific goals; however at times you got so worked up and distracted by deadlines, obstacles, lack of motivation, setbacks or missing pieces that you felt like a failure, lost hope and did not make it to the finish line. During these trying moments you never put forth effort to find joy in all the parts along the journey whether good, bad or indifferent.

I have been there myself so I know the exact state of mind. I was so adamant about having a strategic way to accomplish these goals that any roadblock or unexpected turn would put me in such a stressful state. I was not able to recognize that these roadblocks were blessings in disguise. I refused to see beauty and meaning in the delays which lead to self-doubt, disappointment and overall in a state of confusion.

On the flip side though some individuals do accomplish their goals without finding the joy in the journey however at the end they are not fulfilled. So I would ask; what is an accomplished goal without fulfilment? From my point of view I believe gaining success should bring you joy and happiness but if it does not was it worth it at the end? Would love to hear your views.

Kindly see below some suggestions to focus on the journey not the destination:

  • Set meaningful goals
  • Abort negative thoughts
  • Exercise and breathe
  • Avoid comparison
  • Contribute to others
  • Manage your time effectively

In conclusion I can recommend due to personal experiences whether the destination be goals or road trip; take a moment to see the meaning in the roadblock, obstacle or set back. Embrace it and find joy in it. Live in the moment! Blessings
