Personality is defined as traits an individual was born with; combination of qualities that form a person’s distinctive character. Reputation on the other hand are beliefs or opinions that are generally held about someone measured by consistency of behavior; and responsibility assumed for their words and actions.
Some often refer to personality and reputation as the same however there are vast differences between the two and they should not be mistaken. Differences between personality and reputation are as follows:
- Reputation is an external concept (how society views individual) while personality is internal.
- Reputation can be built over a short duration whereas personality is a long term and can take a while to build upon.
- Personality is created and nutured through individual effort while reputation is built by others.
- Personality is true to oneself while reputation can sometimes be unauthentic or false images.
- Reputation is at times short lived and can be destroyed by one incident or issue while personality is long term.
I trust that this article has helped share some knowledge and for future reference; as individuals we are clear between personality and reputation and place effort and focus on being our authentic selves at all times and not allow reputation to play a dominant role in our lives. Thank you for you support and I look forward to your feedback. One love
